Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

This is a savory, homemade pizza with a white sauce rather than the traditional red sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 ball Neapolitanish dough
  • 1/2 cup White pizza sauce Store-bought is OK. Alfredo sauce works fine too.
  • 4 oz Steak, thinly sliced A tender cut (e.g. filet mignon works best)
  • 1 onion Small, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 Green pepper, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 cup Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, pre-grated
  • 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup Grated parmesan

Method

  1. Remove the dough from the refrigerator 2 hours before making the pizza and let the dough come to room temperature.
  2. Cook the onion, green pepper and mushrooms until they are soft - it can all be done in one pan. The goal is to cook some of the water out of the vegetables so that the pizza isn't soggy in the middle.
  3. Put flour on the countertop, and shape the pizza dough
  4. Add a layer of white pizza sauce. Apply some red chili flakes
  5. Apply the remaining toppings. Save the shredded mozzarella for the end to create a cover over all of the toppings.
  6. Bake at 500 degrees on a pizza steel/stone for 8-10 minutes.
