Hot Beef Sandwiches

Ingredients
  

  • Boneless English Cut Roast Beef 3 1/2 - 4 lb..
  • salt
  • pepper
  • butter
  • 2 tbsp flour (approx)
  • 1/2 cup milk (approx)

Method
 

  1. Brown on each side until it has a brown crust (approximately 3 minutes) in small amount of Crisco
  2. Roast in oven with a lid at 350 degrees for 3 - 4 hours until very tender
  3. Shred the beef while still warm.
  4. Heat, add small amount of water (plus any broth made by roasting beef), lots of salt and pepper, some butter or margarine, and thicken with thickening (flour and milk).
  5. Thickening is probably about 1/2 cup milk and 2 Tablespoons flour -- this is a guess but it doesn't take very much. Grandma Jenkins says that salt, pepper, and butter is the secret - mostly the pepper,
