Hamburger Soup

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion small, choppped
  • 35 ounce canned tomatoes, diced
  • 3 cans consomme (normal size soup can)
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 4 sticks carrots, peeled & diced
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup medium, uncooked barley
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • pepper, to taste

Instructions
 

  • Brown ground beef with onion.
  • Add all ingredients and simmer for 2 hours

Notes

Low Sodium Alternative:
  • 1 can consumme
  • 1 can Healthy Start Tomato Soup
  • 3 cups vegetable broth (low sodium)
