Traditional Chex Brand Party Mix - Shoesmith Version

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 stick margarine or butter
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons seasoned salt (e.g. Morton's Season All)
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1 cup mini-pretzel twists
  • 2 cups bugles or bagel chips or a combo of both
  • 3 cups corn chex
  • 3 cups rice chex

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 250
  2. In open roasting pan melt margarine in oven.
  3. Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Gradually add cereals, nuts and pretzels, stirring until all pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  6. Spread on absorbent paper to cool.
  7. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Liz's Notes:
  • Sometimes I replace one of the cups of Chex mix with Cheerios.
  • Mixed nuts can be substituted in place of the cashews
  • Sometimes we use a full-size aluminum steam tray for mixing and cooking.  It helps to contain the mess.
