Pepperoni Bread

Course Appetizer

Ingredients
  

  • 2 thawed loafed of bread dough
  • 1 lb. of mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 stick pepperoni finely chopped (Note: The amount of pepperoni used may be reduced to make a lighter, less caloric bread. You will not sacrifice the flavor if the correct pepperoni is used.)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
  • 1/2 t. oregano
  • dash black pepper
  • 1-4 T. Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 T. dried basil
  • 1-2 T. dried parsley

Instructions
 

  • Roll out both loaves of bread dough into two separate rectangles.
  • Lightly brush each loaf with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 of Parmesan over both loaves.
  • Combine shredded mozzarella and chopped pepperoni and distribute evenly over two loaves.
  • Combine spices and sprinkle atop each loaf.
  • Grease large cookie sheet.
  • Roll up loaves, being sure to pinch ends and tuck in sides.
  • Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  • Let loaves rise about 20-30 minutes.
  • Brush tops of loaves with remaining melted butter or margarine.
  • Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes or until loaves are golden brown.
  • Serves 6-8 as an accompaniment to a meal or 8-12 as an appetizer. If used as an appetizer cut slices in half. May be reheated.
